The first Opus One made entirely at the winery's own Napa Valley home, the 1991 is a fully resolved, elegant example from a long, cool growing season.

Dark red in colour with an amber rim, the wine shows wild, musky, fully resolved aromas and flavours of plum, currant, spices and leather, plus a suggestion of stewed tomato. On the palate it shows slightly tart acidity and good energy, though only moderate nuance and pliancy remain at this stage of its long life.
