Chateau Mouton Rothschild's 2001 is an evolved, garnet-hued Pauillac first growth with the smoke, leather and dark fruit character that defines the estate's mature wines.

The nose displays complex, ripe berry fruit aromas of bilberry and blackcurrant, with notes of smoke, leather and a slightly animal cast. A well-structured attack supported by well-rounded tannins gives way to dense, fruit-driven flavours on the palate, with a long, elegant finish that reveals excellent, still-unfolding potential. The wine is a blend of roughly 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
