Gaja's 1997 Barbaresco is a dense, opulent Nebbiolo from a highly acclaimed vintage, now at the end of its predicted drinking window and showing beautifully.

A dense ruby/purple colour introduces an extraordinary nose of black cherry liqueur, smoke, liquorice, mineral and floral aromas on a full-bodied, opulent, fruit-driven wine. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, coffee, mint and oak carry an exotic smoky note, with very concentrated fruit, surprising acidity and a strong note of dark chocolate.
